With 15 Grunions traveling up to Santa Barbara, the team came in 3rd place out of 24 teams swimming.  The team collected not only ribbons but rubber duckies

for finishing first place in their respective heats and once again team records were falling fast.

It should be also be noted that the Grunions also placed first in wine tasting the day before the meet.  No other team came
close to finishing off bottles of wine at such

as fast pace. Thanks to Don and Steve for organizing the before and after
meet activities the Grunions had once again one great time at the meet.

Our Head Coach, Colin Williamson coached his last workout for the Grunions on Tuesday, July 1st.  We thought he would take it easy on us, but NOOOO... he made sure we got our heart rates up and a good workout in.  Thank you Colin, for being our Head Coach and for insisting that at every workout,

we "eat our vegetables" (to the rest of us, that means a tough kick set!).  We hope you won't be a stranger and that, if your schedule permits, you might hop in the water with us.  We wish you all the best!!

Lauren Scholz is now our new Head Coach and we thank her for her willingness to put her hat in the ring and take a chance on us.  We have already had a few practices with Lauren and she has proven to keep us working hard for 90 minutes.  Lauren will coach Monday, Thursday, and Saturday beginning August 7th.  For your reading pleasure, please read Lauren's bio below:

"Lauren Scholz comes from a good solid swimming and water polo background. She started swimming and playing water polo at Westminster High School, then received a sch

olarship to play water polo at CSU Monterey Bay. During the off season in 2008, she studied in London where she joined an international water polo club and played all over England and Europe. After graduating college in 2010 with a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism, Lauren coached high school varsity boy's and girl's water polo. Currently, she is an ocean swimmer and regularly competes in triathlons in the Long Beach and Orange County communities. She is also pursuing her Masters degree in Sport Management at CSU Long Beach".

Welcome aboard Lauren!!!!

Hello Grunions!

As many of you know, Gay Games is approaching fast. Opening Ceremonies are Saturday, August 9th, and the swim competition goes from Sunday, August 10th through Friday, August 15th.

In order to make the most of this trip, we would like to start gathering some important information from everyone, from events and relay availabilities, to your arrival/departure and what you'd like to see while in Cleveland.

Here goes:

1 - What events are you swimming at Gay Games.  And which days are they on?

2 - Are you available for relays?  If so, which days, which relays?  And which strokes in the medley relays?

3 - What day are you arriving in Cleveland?  What day are you departing from Cleveland?

4 - What hotel are you staying at?  Will you have a car?

5 - Are there any other Gay Games events/sports you want to watch/see?  Like Men's Pairs Figure Skating (what would Brian Boitano do?) or Ballroom Dancing (Dancesport is the official name) or Golf (Go Robyn Utu!!!)?

6 - Are there any other things you'd like to see in the area? Like the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame?  Or a specific restaurant for dinner?

7 - Any other information you'd think is helpful.

These questions are to help make everyone's experience the best possible.  Maybe others want to see something you do or eat the same place. If we gather all this information, we can at least throw it on the table for discussions and really bond as a team.

Thanks and see you all in the pool!
