The Grunion Board of Directors have recently voted not to sign a merchandise contract.  In the past, we have been sponsored by TYR and Nike.  What does this mean to you?

Well, you can purchase the suit that fits you best (Speedo, TYR, Nike or anyone else!), and if you want the Grunion name or logo on your suit, you can head over to CAS (15661 Container Ln. Huntington Beach, (714-898-2655) and they will gladly affix it to your suit at your own cost.  Our colors are navy blue and yellow, but if you want to mix it up a bit.....have at it!!

See you in the pool!!!  Grunions Rock!!

Hello my fellow Grunions!  A thousand apologies for my absence lately. With Brian's spinal surgery, traveling for work for two months, selling and buying a home, and just overall craziness of life, I've fallen behind on giving the well deserved recognition to all members who have set Grunion team records.

So let's start with how we closed off the 2013 season. I will try and catch up as quickly as I can with the 2014 records, so bear with me.

While no team records were set in meets during the month of November, it's clear that the Grunions-hosted SPMS championships were a smashing success.  Congrats to the following swimmers for records set at the SPMS championships in December!

It was a wet and wild time at the Silverado pool for the Grunion hosted "fun" meet with our friends from WeHo and DSST. Over 50 swimmers and friends enjoyed a morning of individual and relay events. funmeet3 Many, if not all, won "duckie" awards for speed and/or style points.  Afterwards everyone had a chance to mingle some more at District Wine. It was a great way to kickstart Pride weekend in Long funmeet2Beach!

Many thanks to our Swim meet funmeet4 Coordinator, Stan Smith, for organizing and to all the Grunions who volunteered to make the meet and social such a success.

Recently were were informed numerous traffic violations on the JFTB for individuals using the pool. It is unclear if any of them were Grunions.

Please be mindful everyone that we are guests on the JFTB and that opportunity to drive on the Base can be revoked should we not follow the laws. In particular, we must obey speed limits (25 mph on the installation and 5 mph if there are soldiers running or walking around them), must stop COMPLETELY at every stop sign, must carry valid registration and proof of insurance, and must have proper registration tags on our vehicle. The command staff on the Base is trying their best to ensure the safety of ALL on the Base including the pool patrons and soldiers.

Also, please remember to park in Lot A (Alpha), the large parking lot on the left when you enter the JFTB and walk to the pool. Only coaches/parents dropping off equipment can drop off the equipment in the pool lot adjacent to the pool and then go back and park in Lot A.

Please let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your cooperation!

This past Sunday, a great turnout of Grunions and our sister team, the Shoreline Frontrunners, took the streets of Long beach to march in the 2014 Long Beach Pride Parade.   With over 130 entrants in the parPride1ade, and thousands of spectators, the team walked arm in arm, speedo in speedo, and even had Yuji cycling around on his bike to make sure no Grunions strayed away from the herd.
It couldn't have been a better day to march, as we all wore our Grunion / Frontrunner medals, had noisemakers to get the crowd excited and showed the world, why the Long Beach Grunions are a powerhouse in the water AND on land!
