The Long Beach Grunions spent Saturday morning joining our friends from, Riptide and Swim Long Beach along other local teams for a morning of fun relays, friendly competition, and community spirit.
The event raised funds for the Waterproof Our Youth initiative, which helps provide water safety education and swim opportunities for underserved youth in our community.
From relay races and team challenges to plenty of laughs on the pool deck, the morning was a great reminder of how swimming brings people together. Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered and donated.
With the Riptides Masters Swimming pool temporarily closed while being used as an evacuation site during the Garden Grove chemical leak, the Long Beach Grunions opened our practice to any Riptides swimmers who wanted to jump in and train with us.
It was great having Coach Cory and several Riptides members at practice tonight. This is what the Masters swimming community is all about — supporting each other, sharing lanes, and coming together when it matters.
March's Grunion Awards Banquet brought the team together for a night that reflected exactly who we are—supportive, fun, and all in for each other. We celebrated fitness swimmers who show up week after week, pool record holders who raised the bar, and open water swimmers who took on new challenges beyond the pool, each representing a different side of what makes this team strong. We also recognized our volunteer coaches who lead practices and keep everyone moving forward, along with our board members who handle the work behind the scenes to keep everything running—this team doesn't work without them. One of the best parts of the night was seeing everyone dressed up, bringing a different kind of energy and showing up in full support of every award recipient, with teammates genuinely cheering for teammates all night long.

Come try us out. We are a USMS Gold Club and a member of IGLA. Our coaches are USMS levels 1, 2 and 3 certified. Our low monthly membership fees make it easy to get started.
